PRATIBHA NRITYA MANDIR is a reputed School of Performing Arts in Central India at Nagpur (Maharashtra), India, founded in 1983 by Smt.Ratnam Janardhanan, a versatile and accomplished artist.  The dance School is affiliated to Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Maha Vidyalaya Mandal, Miraj (Maharashtra) and is registered under Trust Act. The dance School, where the splendid classical tradition continues in all its original glory, conducts regular classes in Bharatanatyam.  It also imparts training in Mohiniyattam and regional/tribal folk dance forms, as special items.  It follows the syllabus prescribed by Mandal for Bharatanatyam examinations. All classes are conducted by Smt.Ratnam Janardhanan, assisted by qualified and trained staff. It has a sizeable strength and is growing from strength to strength.

 
 
 

The institution is devoted to the teaching of Indian classical dances in a non-formal environment.  Its main aim is to promote, propagate and develop Indian Art and Culture and also encourage the practice of dance in its rich traditional forms amongst the general public and in particular the younger generation, thereby educate them to assimilate the values of the great divine traditional art forms.  It also aims to provide facilities to budding artists, a cultural platform and performance opportunity to show their hidden talent.

An art which to flourish requires sincere, devoted and dedicated followers.  One such exponent of the art in the field of Indian classical dance is Smt.Ratnam Janardhanan.  Dance is her sadhana, her way to communicate with the Divine.  She teaches her students with perfection and highest standards with the sole aim to shape them as outstanding artists.  In recognition of her outstanding services and contribution to the field of art and culture, she has been felicitated and awarded by several prestigious organisations and foundations.  The awards include NRITYA RATNA by Salt Lake Cultural Association, Kolkatta, KALA RATNA by Kala Darpanam Art & Cultural Movement of India, Kerala, MEERA award by Sanskar Bharati Natya Kendra, Agra, ASMITHA award by Vidarbha Hindi Sahitya Sammelan, Nagpur, WOMEN’S PRIDE award by JCI Zone IX, Nagpur, NRITYAVIDUSHI award by Theatre Movement, Cuttack, etc.  

 
  ANNUAL PROGRAMMES  
 

Pratibha Nritya Mandir, since its inception in 1983, conducts annual day celebrations regularly every year to provide a platform and an opportunity for public performance to the budding and young talents.  A good number of artists from the age of 5 years participate in the programme and they are felicitated and awarded in the function. Pratibha Nritya Mandir celebrated its Silver Jubilee in 2008 for two days in grand scale.  Professional artists from Chennai, Odissa and Kerala were invited to perform Bharatanatyam, Odissi and Mohiniyattam. 

 
  ARANGETRAM  
  Pratibha Nritya Mandir has presented Bharatanatyam Arangetrams (Solo public performance) of some selected students, featuring a complete margam of the repertoire lasting for two and half hours.

 
  DANCE WORKSHOP  
 

Pratibha Nritya Mandir conducts workshop for its students by eminent Gurus of famous Dance Schools where lecture-cum-demonstration of different intricacies of dance and special dance items are taught.  Bharatanatyam workshops were conducted by Ganga Thampi of Kalakshetra, Chennai, Shobhana Balachandar of Tharanganee, Chennai, etc. in the recent past.

 
  PRODUCTIONS  
 
Pratibha Nritya Mandir has produced and staged short and full length dance dramas such as Harihara Puthra, Kannaki, Dakshayagam, Om-Shakti, Nartaki, Draupadi Vastraharanam, Valli-Kalyanam, Santhanagopalam, Pasupatastra, Vasavadatta, Om Sri Shivaya Namah, Sree Balaji Sumangalam, Dasavataram, Sri-Lakshmi, Viswamohini, Sita Kalyanam, Mahishasura Mardini,  Sthree Shakti, Ashta-Nayika, Hare-Krishna, Agni-Pravesha, etc. in Sanskrit, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi languages.
